“Today, standing at this platform, which has been created for bringing the students of MBA schools close to the corporate world, all I will talk to you about is my experiences and understandings of how the corporate world works,” Sobhna Ramani, Product and Marketing Head, NIIT enounced. Mr Gupta was speaking at MBAUniverse.com Corporate Connect Series on September 12, 2009.

ABCD is all that she taught, literally! “A for me stands for Ask. What I learned from my experience is that you should never talk much, you should listen and most importantly, you should ask. Learn how to express yourself, question something you don’t get. Ask where did I go wrong?” Ramani said.

B, she said stands for being patient. “You got to be patient. If you keep rushing at conclusions, at decisions, it might not work always, so be patient. C stands for curiosity. Believe you me, if you are curious to know, learn, it will pay off well. And last but the most important of all AB and C is D, which is data and intuition. Data and intuition go hand in hand. Intuition should always be listened to, but check your data first!”

Amit Agnihotri, co-founder of MBAUniverse.com, who was moderating the session went ahead and asked whether E could stand for evolving, to which Ramani quipped, “Well yes! Evolving is also very necessary in order to succeed. Evolve your thoughts!”

While taking up questions from the students of various MBA schools gathered at the Corporate Connect Series, organized by MBAUniverse.com, Ramani explained the importance of working in a team and keeping them in sync with your thoughts, ideas and projects. “It is very important to make your plan public and then ask for inputs from team members. Aligning the members of a team in the right manner helps a great deal,” she added.
